Guidelines for the Application and Use of Flame Retardant Markings

Entrusted by the Fire Department of the Ministry of Public Security, in accordance with the Document Gongxiao [2007] No. 503, "Notice on Further Strengthening the Management of Flame Retardant Products in Public Places", our association has scheduled to hold a national conference on publicizing and implementing the mandatory national standard GB20286-2006 "Requirements and Markings for the Combustion Performance of Flame Retardant Products and Components in Public Places" at the New Metropolis Hotel in Zhangmutou Town, Dongguan City from March 3rd to 5th, so as to further promote the management of flame retardant products in public places. This is of great significance for curbing major fire accidents in public places and promoting the application of flame retardant products in public places. 

After July 1st, 2008, for any public place that uses flame retardant products not in line with the "Requirements and Markings for the Combustion Performance of Flame Retardant Products and Components in Public Places", the fire protection acceptance inspection of this public place or the fire safety inspection before its opening shall not be passed. Therefore, this work is particularly important for national fire safety. The national flame retardant industry and the public security fire protection system will earnestly implement it. 

It is required that flame retardant manufacturers: understand the importance of applying for and using the markings of flame retardant products, actively cooperate with your user units to submit necessary inspection applications to relevant inspection units as early as possible, so as to obtain the permission for using the markings of flame retardant products at an early date. 

It is required that flame retardant material manufacturers: understand the precautions for applying for and using the markings of flame retardant products, obtain the permission as early as possible to deal with the strict examination of flame retardant products in public places carried out after July 1st this year, and expand the market influence.
