The addition of different flame retardants has different effects on polymer materials. Therefore, suitable flame retardants should be selected according to the structure, properties, processing conditions, and usage requirements of the polymer.
Additive flame retardants are incorporated into the polymer through mechanical mixing methods to impart flame retardancy to the polymer. Currently, additive flame retardants are mainly classified into organic flame retardants and inorganic flame retardants. Organic flame retardants are represented by some types such as bromine-based, phosphorus-nitrogen-based, nitrogen-based, red phosphorus and its compounds. Inorganic flame retardants mainly include flame retardant systems such as antimony trioxide, magnesium hydroxide, aluminum hydroxide, and silicon-based ones.
For PP flame-retardant sheets, bromine-based or phosphorus-nitrogen-based flame retardants are generally used. Among them, the addition amount of bromine-based flame retardants is relatively high, which has a significant impact on the impact resistance and tensile properties of the sheets.
On the other hand, the addition amount of phosphorus-nitrogen-based flame retardants is small, and it has a relatively small impact on the properties of the sheets, which can meet the requirements of customers!
