Plastic PP sheets can be processed by extrusion during production. In the extrusion molding process, after the materials in granular solid state enter the extruder, they need to complete the processes of conveying, compacting, melting, and homogenizing until the high-temperature molten parison is extruded from the die head. The temperature change during this process is very complex. The flame retardant mixed with the PP material should also be able to withstand high temperatures.
Generally, the processing temperature of PP sheets is around 170-190 degrees Celsius. For some processes with special requirements, the processing temperature is even higher.
Since the temperature inside the barrel during heating, especially at the shear block, is significantly higher than the processing temperature. Generally, the decomposition temperature or thermal weight loss temperature of the flame retardant must be at least 20 degrees Celsius higher than the processing temperature.
This requires that the flame retardant in the PP flame-retardant sheet should be able to withstand a high temperature of at least 230°C.
