How does the flame retardant for cable filler rope materials achieve flame retardancy?

Are there distinctions in the flame retardant grades of the flame retardants for cable filler ropes? Or is it sufficient as long as they have flame retardancy? Many people, including different regions, have different definitions of flame retardancy. There are standards like the SGS standard in the European Union or the UL standard. Manufacturers may also have their own requirements, such as non-combustible dripping cotton or no dripping, and the flame retardant grade standards vary. 

Firstly, "ZR" means flame retardant. The flame retardant grades of wires and cables are divided into three levels: A, B, and C. "ZB" represents grade B flame retardant, and "ZR" by default represents grade C flame retardant. The flame retardant characteristics follow the order of ZA > ZB > ZC. Whether it is home decoration wires or power cables, there will be distinctions in the flame retardant grades. 

The classification of flame retardant cables into classes A, B, and C is divided according to the provisions of the GB/T18380-2008 standard. It is used to evaluate the ability of vertically installed bunched wires, cables, or optical cables to suppress the vertical spread of flames under specified conditions. 

Flame retardant class A means: The cables are installed on the test steel ladder so that the non-metallic materials contained in the test in the total volume are 7L/m. The fire supply time is 40 minutes. After the cable combustion stops, wipe the test sample dry, and the measured maximum charring range of the test sample shall not be higher than 2.5m from the bottom of the burner. 

Flame retardant class B means: The cables are installed on the test steel ladder so that the non-metallic materials contained in the test in the total volume are 3.5L/m. The fire supply time is 40 minutes. After the cable combustion stops, wipe the test sample dry, and the measured maximum charring range of the test sample shall not be higher than 2.5m from the bottom of the burner. 

Flame retardant class C means: The cables are installed on the test steel ladder so that the non-metallic materials contained in the test in the total volume are 1.5L/m. The fire supply time is 20 minutes. After the cable combustion stops, wipe the test sample dry, and the measured maximum charring range of the test sample shall not be higher than 2.5m from the bottom of the burner.
