When making flame - retardant PP plates, is it better to choose copolymer flame retardants or homopolymer flame retardants?

Commonly used raw materials for producing PP plates are homopolymer PP raw materials and copolymer PP raw materials. Different materials are used according to different customer needs. The PP plate produced from homopolymer PP has high transparency, a low price, and high rigidity, but poor toughness. The PP plate produced from copolymer PP has good flexibility, high impact resistance, good anti-aging properties, and a relatively high price.

Since homopolymer PP is very brittle when the temperature is above 0°C, copolymer PP is more frequently used in production. The Vicat softening temperature of PP is 150°C. Due to its relatively high degree of crystallinity, this material has good surface stiffness and scratch resistance. There is no environmental stress cracking problem with PP. Generally, methods such as adding glass fibers, metal additives, or thermoplastic rubber are used to modify PP.

Therefore, when customers choose flame retardants, they should make their selection according to their own situations. Use homopolymer flame retardants with homopolymer PP materials, and use copolymer flame retardants with copolymer PP materials. If it is PP material added with glass fibers, it is recommended to use copolymer flame retardants.
